Kiira’s short comment:

Most disappointed of the top skaters was naturally Kiira Korpi, who still at the beginning of the season was able to beat Susanna Pöykiö in Finlandia Trophy.

– I really don’t know what’s the problem, the jumps just don’t work. If there’s anything to be happy about, it’s the Laura’s medal. That was a great thing.

About the athlete selection for Euros:

The athlete selection for the European championships in februaryJanuary will be interesting now that the nationals are over. Finland has three spots for ladies in Warsaw.

According to the figure skating associations selection criterias three skaters with best scores from the ongoing season will get the spots for Euros.

If and when this rule is followed, Susanna Pöykiö (161.58), Kiira Korpi (146.94) and Laura Lepistö (142,71) will travel to Warsaw. Alisa Drei (142.57) would miss the selection by 0.14 points.

But the case is not that simple. The association requires that skaters selected for Euros must have competed in atleast one international senior competition during the ongoing season, and Lepistö who still competes in juniors does not meet this requirement.

The figure skating association will meet on monday and release the names of the athletes selected for Euros on tuesday.

It’s funny how the reporters keep referring Laura Lepistö as a “junior aged skater”, although she is five months older than Kiira…
