So after the bit disappointing short program Kiira did well in the free and finished in 14th place overall. In free skate she was 11th, ahead of the two Americans for example. Final results are available here and Free Skating results are here.
The results of Susanna Pöykiö (8th) and Kiira Korpi (14th) guarantee Finland two spots also for the 2008 Worlds in Sweden.
As for the ISU GP-series next season, the top 12 in the Worlds are guaranteed a place for two competitions, but I have a feeling that Kiira will recieve invitations for two GP-competitions anyway…
Then some Worlds articles from Finnish media:

Korpi fought
Korpi’s competition didn’t have a good start when she popped the axel in the short program. Gutted from that she came back for the free skate and did a good job. She opened with a 3-loop and continued with a 3-lutz – 2-toeloop – 2-loop combination. In all she went for six triple jumps of which the last salchow failed and cost some points.
– I’m satisfied to my free skate, beginning of the program was good and I succeeded in the most difficult jumps.
– We have talked with my coach that there has been a whole range of feelings in this season. During the nationals there were some really hard times and then there was the great feeling of joy at the Euros. Here the feelings were a bit mixed. I feel like I have grown as an athlete, it has been an upbringing season.
The biggest challenge also for Korpi is to get the triple-triple combination competition ready.
– When looking these top ladies one can see that 3-3 is what is required. I had it in my program at the beginning of the season, but we had to remove it. Maybe if everything goes well during the summer, it will be ready for next winter.

Korpi moved up in the free
Kiira Korpi skated a good free skate and was 14th overall with a total score of 149.47, but couldn’t top her personal best of 151,21. She also didn’t meet her goal of being in the top ten.
The girl from Tampere had a techically strong start but had troubles landing the triple salchow and had a one point deduction for that. Korpi’s presentation was strong and the component scores were in the range of 6.00-6.43.
– I had a good feeling today. Free skate went well apart from the triple salchow. It was a good fight and I’m happy that I succeeded in the hardest jumps.
– The chances for better positions were gone after the short program. But from here it’s good to start the summer. The season has been exhausting and irregular but with the bronze from the Euros a good one too.

Thank you on a note
Anybody watching the competition on television saw Pöykiö waving a text in Japanese. The translation goes: Thank you Japan.
The chairman of the competition’s organization commitee had told the Finns how everybody has been praising their politeness. That comment was what they wanted to thank about with the note.
