[en]At some forums, I found information about Kiira’s withdrawal from 2007 Skate America.

She seems to be suffered from Sinusitis, the inflammation of paranasal sinuses.
Is it an influence with the inflammation of esophagus in the summer?

Hope she will be fine soon…

Update:

Ville found that Aamulehti published the story about this.
Summary from the article;

Kiira Korpi was supposed step on a bus and ride to the airport from
where she would have taken a plane Reading on east coast of US.

On Tuesday doctor gave an order that Kiira is not fit to fly, sinuitis
and fever are keeping her at home.

– We are in low mood, this is really sad, says coach Maaret Siromaa.

The cancelation on last minute was a huge disappointment. Yesterday
Kiira was still doing her spins in the morning practises, but the
skating was cut short.

Final stop for the trip was given by Korpi’s doctor who said she could
never recover for the competition and could not stand the long flight
over the Atlantic.

– We have to think rationally and just unpack our luggage.

Finlandia Trophy 2007 Kiira was 5th

Finlandia Trophy was just finished…
We have to tell you sad news.

Kiira did not succeed in the free skate and dropped to 5th place.

5th place!?

What’s happened? The judges details tells Kiira wasn’t good at some jumps…
Who’s Jenni VÄHÄMAA? The greatest upset victory… congrats.

Anybody watched the performance lively?

Quotes from STLL in Finnish and English.

After great short program yesterday Kiira Korpi lost her good spirit and placed 5th.

It also started well today, but I feel that I am missing routine in the
short, says the European Champion bronze medallist who just finished
her Matriculation exams.

Finlandia Trophy 2007 Short Program

finlandia_trophy.jpg

The ladies short program in Finlandia Trophy will take place on saturday at 15.00-17.05 Finnish time. There won’t be any television broadcasts of the short programs, only highlights of the free skates on sunday after the event.

Pre competition article and comments from the Finnish participants:

Kiira Korpi’s settings for the season have not been the best possible. During the summer she suffered from the inflammation of the esophagus which prevented full training. Also the matriculation exams took her mind to other things, but those are now over.

– Now without school things I’m able to fully concentrate on training. Although my aim is on the spring championships I’m happy that there are so many good skaters from Finland. It seems incedible that we have developed so much in such a short time.
