The STLL, Suomen Taitoluisteluliitto, announced here that Finnish Olympic Committee has decided a contribution of 740000 euro for Finnish Winter Sports Federations, also within sight of next Olympics of Sochi 2014.
Figure Skating will receive 80000 euros for five athletes (by the way, where’s Ari-Pekka Nurmenkari? He decided his retirement? I don’t think so, I’ve had no news about that… why he’s not in the list? He has had any kind of divergence with STLL? This could explain the “conditional” to his subsidie…); but, e.g. they planned 100000 euros to Snowboarding (!), 180000 euros to Cross Country (!!)… maybe Figure Skating should have deserved more attention and resources, for his popularity all over the world. Yes, 80000 euros does it mean 16000 euro for each athlete: but I can imagine I’m not so far from truth, if I think that amount only will cover Kiira’s expenses for her Canadian programs… or maybe money will not divided in equal parts?
Besides, Kiira (with Laura and Beata Papp, who’ll be my favourite skater in the future after Kiira 🙂 ), will receive other 2000 euros from a Finnish Foundation who supports most talented athletes.
(My own curiosity: in which way, and who told to Nelli “We don’t need you anymore”?)
I suppose STLL will give different cash to every athlets….seniors and juniors…
About Nelli,I met her two times for a while and I had a very very positive impression: very kind, nice and good….
I don’t know if it’s official this change, but if it’ll be real,I think Kiira herself should tell Nelli the changing…
Well Gianluca, maybe next time I’ll can post a discussion directly in italian, since it seems nobody else but Anna tells its own opinion…
anzi, in milanese! 🙂
Oh, boys 😉
I think the change of choreography isn’t that dramatic as you make it sound. Nelli has
been a very good choreography and there are still dozens of skaters who need her ability.
Kiira is one of the top skaters on the world, she needs one of the most talented
choreographies on the world, that’s my opinion.
And I would’n worry about money. As far as I remember, Kiira earned in 2007 over 70 000
e, in 2008 over 50 000 e. She has good sponsors, isn’t this the thing where she should
spend her money?
And Ari-Pekka… I don’t think he’ll skate in Sotsi. There are many young talented
skaters who will probably pass him during the next 4 years.
My interest is this: http://www.stll.fi/?x2126=1500689 which says that Sasha Palomäki is
searching for a new junior partner for season 2010-2011. Where is Oksana Klimova?
Yes, I know very well she can absolutely face those expenses… that’s not what I meant, but it’s not important.
Anyway, now it’s done. I hope with all my strengths you’re right, Anna, and next season Kiira finally will get wonderful results she deserves: she can do it, ’cause she has all the potential.
