A global good performance, but too many mistakes in triple jumps.
Anyway… well done Kiira, Akiko Suzuki is a very, very good skater, and this is another step towards the target of entering one of six places in top world ranking.
Congratulations, Kiira! Good score with a program like that. Which means she finally gets high component scores. Her SP was sooo lovely, FS needs work and work. But I’m sure we are on good way. Gooo Kiira!
Congrats, Kiira for Personal Best score with Silver medal!
If only doubled Loop and Salchow were triple and singled flip were double or triple…
But yeah, nice combos! Well done, Kiira!
Really looking forward to seeing you at NHK Trophy!!
Uhm: first, a combination 3T+2T instead of 3+3, then two doubles instead of triples and last a missed flip…
also, three triple jumps in Kiira’s program while six in Suzuki’s one. Very good steps sequences, very good spirals, but…
Technical elements made the difference, no doubt: so, why a so high score for Kiira and Akiko, despite so many mistakes?
Too generous judges? I don’t think so, ’cause only one of them was finnish, all others were foreigner: what do you think about, Anna?
Well, what to say… it’s easy to see where the points came:

Suzuki got clearly more points from technical elements BUT she had also many edge calls = jump take off with wrong edge (lutz, flip) which gave her lots of -GOE. Kiira had -GOE only in her 1F. Which means what Kiira did, she did it well. Kiira had higher component component score, 56,88 while Suzuki 56,24. It means she finally gets those component score she earns. Well, I’ve said many times, I’m not a judge, I have no idea how to give the component score but we should trust they are professionals. Only one of the judges were Finnish so we can’t blame that.
Yes, I agree with all you said.
What it seems is more triple jumps in Suzuki’s FS have paid at least… even she executed them quite badly. Also, unfortunately it’s often unclear the way judges give their scores regarding Program Components… sometimes, nothing about all we really see on ice.
Anyway, Kiira now reached 9th place in world ranking: with more practising on technical skills, a podium in Nagoya isn’t only a dream.
