Nice exhibition. Kiira is really good this season. Kanako Murikami fell three times and got the Bronze, while Kiira didn’t fall at all and got fourth. Hmmm. Sounds like politics. I think judges downgrade Kiira technically because they’re envious that she’s so gorgeous. There are three skaters that skate sublimely–Alissa Czisny, Kim Yu-Na and Kiira Korpi. They are doing a ballet out there and can be watched over and over again while a lot of other skaters lack this magic. ‘Course that’s just my opinion. With some ice skaters, skating is a sport, while with others it is an art form.
Not a single time we’ve been able to see the 3T+3T combination in her FS so far: that’s a (not the only one) problem. Number of falls it isn’t so important in Skating, if you do what your program provides: maybe you’ll get deductions, and that’s all.
Kanako Murakami is quite a phenomenon, in my opinion: she’s only fifteen y.o., and stay at the top level at this age means having an enormous talent.
Genius of politics said also new system of judging should have helped Mao Asada and her triple jumps… we all saw how did it go.
All judges have been a little severe, that’s true, but with all the athletes, not only with Kiira; and all the skaters, like Kiira admitted on her microblog, have made a performance far from their best.
I think Kiira will skate fantastic at Trophee Eric Bompard and podium! Alissa Czisny won Skate Canada! Alissa and Kiira will be the toast of Paris! I wish Kiira would use the Judy Garland original version in her short skate.
This could be a good idea, Mike: very romantic.
I think should be great also the Israel Kamakawiwo’ole version, I suppose would result very attractive for the crowd.
Okay, here’s what’s happening: Alisa Czisny just won Sectionals so with Skate Canada, that’s two Gold medals for her this season. Kiira has been bestowed with a Gold and Silver so far, while the other three prime skaters at the upcoming Trophee Eric Bompard (Asada, Phaneuf and Nagasu) are, ahem, bombing. So that means Alissa and Kiira are the two top contenders for Eric Bombard–my two favorite skaters! I’ve noticed that with Yu Na Kim out of the mix, Alissa Czisny seems to float to the top. If Kiira medals a Bronze or Silver at Eric Bompard, can that be enough to send her to the Grand Prix Final? And why doesn’t Hollywood make a skating movie with Alissa and Kiira? That’s a $100,000,000 box office.
