Kiira just finished first also in the Free Skating with a record score of 110.94 points. This gave her the total score of 172.43. Of course these points are not comparable to ISU event scores.
Congratulations for the victory!
A nice Christmas present!

Very good work indeed, but still I’m not be able to watch the competition, so I can’t say if judges have been quite generous, like in most of events within own borders, as I suspect… and that’s the reason why these scores can’t be considered for personal bests, as rightly remembered by Timo.
Anyway, analyzing judges’ report, still some old problems: every time Flip is half a tragedy (I deeply adore Kiira’s skating, but I think would be stupid keeping my eyes shut… and her Flip’s technique is terrible) and Lutz is never perfect. However, it seems Kiira’s finally made a quality jump in her approach to competitions, reaching the top level especially with her mind: only results can give her strength and conviction, and now she’s getting’em.
You are right with flip but wrong with lutz. She usually makes a good and CLEAN lutz and never has edge calls like Nagasu and many Japanese skaters. There has been problems with lutz in last competitions but if we check her lutzes during past years, they are fine. Much better success percent than Laura has.
Yes Anna, in fact I didn’t talk about “technique” in Lutz, but only in its execution: Kiira’s skill in Lutz is good, you’re right, but too often it doesn’t succeed as wanted, that’s what I meant with “never perfect”. And I’m sure that she’ll improve her ability in Flip too, ’cause I think she never holds back when it comes to work.
