As usual, she’s been damaged by her TES: only two athletes did worse…
and, of course, always great Components score.
I just can’t realize what’s happening to her Double Axel: up to last season, she performed this jump with blinded eyes… anyway, the podium is still so close. C’mon Kiira!
Kiira was 3rd in her PCS. As I predicted, Gold and Silver seem to belong to Mao and Leonova but Kiira could still get Bronze. The Russians are really strong this year–did the Kremlin decide to promote figure skating because of the prestige involved? Kiira’s metatarsus injury is what’s holding her back in her TES, from what I’ve heard. (Football players developed a specially designed partial rubber sock to help prevent metatarsus injuries.) The Grand Prix Final is going to be too close to call–but it could go Czisny, Mao, Tuktamysheva, Kostner, Suzuki, Leonova, the way things look. Czisny gave the most precise, error-free Freeskate (121.90) at Paris, from what I’ve read. Skaters have to concentrate on racking up TES points, which unfortunately interferes with the free artistry of skating. This new point system…is now getting old.
Wonderful yellow costume Kiira has, by the way. She’s always had some of the best costumes. She is in the reach of the Bronze. I think Mao is going to outdistance Leonova in the Freeskate. Mao is back!
