Kiira made some mistakes during her performance on FS, so the victory went to Julia Lipnitskaia: anyway, Kiira’s got her (virtual) PB, with 181.16 score.

Really, I just can’t understand why Kiira (and her staff) keeps holding Flip in her programs… this is a jump who can take many points, that’s true, but very difficult and historically stodgy to her, so could be a wise idea avoid it. It seems to me Kiira loves Flip like a turkey loves Thanksgiving Day… anyway, ISU’s World Standings tells that now Kiira’s reached number 4 in the world, and this is a great result. Sure, one more time we’ve seen choreography is not everything…
Kiira is fantastic in its performance.
Good question, Northeagle. I really start to agree with you. If she doesn’t make flips in GP’s, she should leave it away and replace it with easier jump.
Otherwise, the FS seemed wonderful!
Btw, here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVcgAQBWJnY is a very nice clip from the beginning of 2005. Kiira is 16 and she makes a FS with all triple jumps! But she is so 16 🙂 Development has been enormous with interpretation and performance!
Yes Anna, the execution’s speed is hugely grown in these years, steps sequences and choreography as well. Perhaps, now the main problem is just the speed: she’s got potential skills for any kind of jump, but while she could execute i.e. Axel with blind eyes, jumps like Flip remain harder because they’re less natural to her, most of all with that speed.
